Back to School Wellness Events

Each summer, the Nevada HAND Resident Services team creates engaging, family-centered, resource-rich Back to School Wellness Events designed specifically for the over 2,000 school-aged students who live in our communities.

Research shows that stable housing is an essential foundation for academic success, and we work to ensure our Nevada HAND resident students also have the supplies and support they need for a new school year of learning and discovery.

At the Back to School Wellness Events students receive free backpacks and school supplies, free dental screenings with a fluoride treatment, free eye exams and prescription glasses, immunization check-ups, and more! The Wellness Events are a true one-stop-shop for families, helping parents gather essential information and resources as they set their children up for a great start to the school year!

The Resident Services team continues helping students thrive throughout the school year with after-school nutrition, homework support, and academic skills enrichment activities offered on-site at family communities.

We are the state’s largest provider of affordable housing with 36 communities, 8,200 residents, 5,000 housing units, and another 2,000 units under development. We recognize that affordable rent is just one aspect of what people need to thrive, and our housing model includes personalized, supportive Resident Services offered on-site at each Nevada HAND community to help families and seniors lead happier, healthier, more stable and successful lives. We are also a well-managed 501(c)3 organization with over 30 years of experience, and our sustainable financial model means your donation will go straight to the Resident Services that make Nevada HAND “More Than a Home” for low-income seniors, working adults, and children.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Your sponsorship will help ensure that school-aged children living in Nevada HAND communities have the supplies, support, and health check-ups to get them ready for a successful school year! To discuss the opportunities below, or a custom sponsor package, please contact Andrew Gaines, Director of Fundraising.

  • $1,000: Provide food and activities for a Back-to-School Wellness Fair event at one Nevada HAND family community.
  • $2,500: Purchase 500 backpacks to be distributed (free of charge) to children at all of our family communities.
  • $5,000: Fully fund an annual Back-to-School Wellness Fair event, including free backpacks, school supplies, food, and activities at one Nevada HAND family community.

  • Tiered sponsor recognition in communications about the Back-to-School Wellness Fair events, including blog posts, social media posts, and a recap in our monthly newsletter.
  • The opportunity to exhibit or present at select Back-to-School Wellness Fair events, as determined in partnership with the Resident Services team.
