A festival celebrating healthy aging, wellness, community, and joy!

Nevada HAND’s nationally-certified Resident Services program is designed to help residents thrive through community-centered, data-informed, expert-vetted resources, programming, and personalized support. The 2024 Senior Wellness Festival was a great example of Resident Services in action!

This was the second year the event was held at the Bill and Lillie Heinrich YMCA, a venue that allows the Resident Services team to bring together a true one-stop-shop of curated resources, education, free on-site services, and community engagement. Nevada HAND’s transportation services team provided free door-to-door bus service from our senior communities to the Festival, where residents could engage with representatives from over 30 local community partners. And because our Resident Services team never stops at just the basics, this event is also a fun, high-energy celebration with delicious food, upbeat music (and dancing!), giveaways, and prizes for the many fabulous entries in the Crazy Hat Contest!

A few highlights from this year’s Senior Wellness Festival:

  • Approximately 500 seniors attended, and over 30 local partners provided information, resources, and services.
  • Access Health Dental provided 49 free dental screenings and will follow up with free dental care.
  • UNLV with Dignity Health and the Nevada Goes Falls Free Coalition performed 72 fall screenings and 72 memory screenings.
  • Walgreens administered a total of 127 vaccines.
  • Southern Nevada Health District provided information to 197 people and administered 55 blood pressure screenings.
  • The YMCA and Aging is Cool led five mini-exercise classes.
  • 78 residents got personalized support for Nevada HAND’s online resident portal, Rent Cafe, provided by a Nevada HAND staff expert and a Board Member.
  • Black and Blue Diner provided hundreds of delicious meals: breakfast burritos in the morning and club sandwiches for lunch.

Gratitude to our community partners.

The Senior Wellness Festival is made possible by partnerships. We are grateful to our vendor sponsors, in-kind sponsors, non-profit and government organizations, and local elected officials for helping create an engaging, impactful experience for Nevada HAND senior residents!
